About Me

Hello! I’m Natalie Chattergoon, a Los Angeles-based Costume Designer, Costumer, and Stylist passionate about storytelling through fashion.

I hold an Associate’s Degree in Fashion Design and Film/TV Costume Design and a Bachelor’s Degree in Creative Industry Studies with a specialization in Film/TV Costume Design from the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) in Los Angeles. My education at FIDM gave me a rare, specialized perspective on costume design for film and TV, emphasizing hands-on training and the creative demands of the industry.

My journey into costume design has been shaped by invaluable on-set experiences, including working as a costume designer for short films created at prestigious institutions such as the American Film Institute (AFI) and the University of Southern California (USC).These opportunities have not only honed my skills but also allowed me to collaborate with like-minded creatives and future leaders of the film industry.

As Edith Head once said, “What a costume designer does is a cross between magic and camouflage.” I’ve always been inspired by how costumes define characters, immerse audiences in a narrative, and bring a world to life. Growing up, I adored costumes, film, and fashion, but it wasn’t until I attended FIDM that I realized these passions could intersect into a career.

Through my work, I hope to create compelling visual narratives that resonate with audiences and enhance a story’s emotional depth. Costume design is an art form that often goes overlooked, yet is so powerful, so I’m thrilled to continue exploring my role in the industry and contributing to the magic of costume design.
