Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II Inspired Collection

I drew inspiration for this collection from the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan, Italy. This architectural masterpiece, named after Italy’s first king, Victor Emmanuel II, was designed by Giuseppe Mengoni. Although I have never had the pleasure of seeing the beauty of this building in person, I have always found it fascinating, even through photos. The focal points that captivated me were the central metal and glass dome and the molding. I incorporated contrast trim, seam detailing, and cable knit fabric to infuse these architectural attributes into my designs. Additionally, I drew inspiration from the scalloped shape created by the building when viewing the dome from directly underneath, leading to the inclusion of scalloped edges in multiple garments within my collection. Architecture has always been one of my favorite things to draw inspiration from. There is so much thought and intricate detail put into it that goes unnoticed, and I love taking some of those aspects and reimagining them in my own way.
